Our Constitution

New Zealand Rugby is governed by the goals and rules set out in its Constitution.

New Zealand Rugby is an incorporated society and as such is legally required to have a Constitution or similar governing document. The Constitution includes rules governing:

  • NZRU members and affiliated organisations
  • Board Members, Officers and Life Members
  • powers and processes of the NZRU Board
  • annual reporting and accounts
  • Appeal Council
  • the regulations of rugby

The Constitution may be amended from time to time. The most recent amendments were made at a Special General Meeting held in December 2014. A summary of those amendments is available in the Media Release issued by NZR following that SGM.
