The New Zealand Maori Rugby Board

The New Zealand Maori Rugby Board (NZMRB) is an incorporated society with its own Constitution. The NZMRB is charged with promoting and encouraging Maori rugby in New Zealand, distributing funds for the development of rugby amongst Maori, and maximising opportunities for Maori players, coaches and administrators.

The Maori Advisory Board, as it was initially known, first convened in 1922. The NZMRB assumed its current name and structure in 2000 and now comprises two representatives from each of the three Maori rugby regions – Te Hiku o Te Ika (northern North Island), Te Tini a Maui (southern North Island) and Te Waipounamu (South Island) – alongside two independent Board members and the NZRU Maori representative.
