NZRU INDEPENDENT BOARD MEMBER
Applications are invited for an Independent Board Member to be appointed to the Board of the New Zealand Rugby Union.
Under the Board rotation policy one Independent Board Member vacancy arises this year. The incumbent Board Member is eligible to reapply.
The successful applicant will have proven experience and success as either a Director or Senior Executive.
Independent Board Members must not, in the 12 months prior to appointment, have been a director, office holder, or employee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, any Rebel Sport Super 14 Franchise or Provincial Union. The position is for an initial three year term and is an appointed, not elected, role.

NEW ZEALAND MAORI TEAM
The New Zealand Maori Rugby team has a proud history, including recent victories over England, Argentina, Scotland and Fiji, and achieved an historic win over the 2005 British and Irish Lions. 2010 marks the Centenary of the first New Zealand Maori Rugby team which will be celebrated with a domestic tour (fixtures yet to be confirmed).
The New Zealand Rugby Union seeks applicants for the following positions, for which candidates will need to be available during the campaign dates of 7-24 June 2010.
Coach
Candidates for this position must have coached in New Zealand for three years immediately preceding the date of appointment; ideally in a National, Franchise or Provincial Union team. An appreciation of the importance of technical and tactical components, thorough analysis, planning and organisation is imperative, as is the need to articulate and deliver a vision and game plan that personifies New Zealand Maori rugby.
Assistant Coach
The Assistant Coach is required to support and contribute to the coaching, selection and administrative duties of the Coach. Accountable to the Coach, the Assistant Coach will be called on to support coaching and development initiatives.
Manager
The primary responsibility of the Manager will be the effective management and leadership of the team and support staff. The Manager will also be required to establish appropriate organisational systems and processes to ensure the optimal performance of the entire team, both on and off the field, as well as leading the team programme.
Doctor
The successful candidate will be a qualified Doctor with a strong background in sports medicine and, in particular, proven experience working with high-level athletes.
Physiotherapist
We are seeking a suitably qualified physiotherapist who has a proven record working with and supporting elite athletes or sports teams. The successful candidate will also provide muscle therapy treatment and advice.
Strength and Conditioning Coach
The appointee will be suitably qualified as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and experienced with both nutrition advice and physical conditioning in a high performance sporting environment to help ensure the players present themselves to training and games in the best possible condition.
Technical Analyst
With proven relevant experience in rugby analysis software packages, the successful candidate will have a detailed understanding of the game of rugby and its laws. Prior experience working with a high performance sports team or athlete is ideal.
For all roles, beyond discipline-specific expertise and experience, candidates should have a good knowledge and understanding of the game as well as outstanding organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. A strong empathy for the values which underpin New Zealand Maori rugby will need to be demonstrated, as will high levels of integrity, passion, and competitive drive.
