The NZRU is governed by the goals and rules set out in its Constitution. As an incorporated society, the NZRU is legally required to have a Constitution or similar governing document.
The Constitution includes rules governing:
- NZRU members and affiliated organisations
- Board Members, Officers and Life Members
- powers and processes of the NZRU Board
- annual reporting and accounts
- Appeal Council
- the regulations of rugby
- The Constitution was last updated in December 2009.
